Rocky Creek is an eight-year-old racehorse trained by Paul Nicholls, who is a lively contender for the 2014 Crabbie's Grand National, as he looks to build on his second placed finishes in the Hennessy Gold Cup and Argento Chase.

Reynoldstown Novices' Chase: 2013

Paul Nicholls's Rocky Creek has always shaped as if he could be a top class staying chaser and even though he won a Grade Two as a novice hurdler it was going to be over the larger obstacles that he would be at his best and he will now look to bag the biggest win of his career on April 5 in the 2014 Grand National.

A winner of the 2013 Reynoldstown Novices' Chase, the Ditcheat inmate was then unable to deal with the classy Dynaste in the Mildmay Novices' Chase at Aintree, but he kicked off the 2013/2014 season with a gallant effort in the Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury, where he came a battling second to Triolo D'alene.

He was then touted as a Cheltenham Gold Cup candidate, but when beaten by The Giant Bolster in the Argento Chase at Prestbury Park, connections opted to bypass the Cheltenham Festival and set all eyes on Aintree and a tilt at the Grand National in the spring.

A sound jumper he should have no problems in dealing with the unique fences, but he will have to show that he can stay the marathon distance, however, if he does see out the trip then has to be a major player in what is a fascinating renewal.
