Prince De Beauchene

Prince De Beauchene

Prince De Beauchene is an eleven-year-oid racehorse trained by Irish handler Willie Mullins, who will be one of the leading contenders for the 2014 Grand National as he looks to bag another big race success at Aintree for the Co. Carlow handler.

Age: 11

Trainer: Willie Mullins

Notable Race Wins:

John Smith's Handicap Chase (Aintree): 2011

Bobbyjo Chase: 2012

Prince De Beauchene first showed his potential as a Grand National contender when still under the stewardship of trainer Howard Johnson, as he stormed to a one-and-a-half length success in the Listed John Smith's Handicap Chase on the 2011 Grand National day.

Having then joined Willie Mullins' stable he was then a gallant fifth in the Troytown Chase before storming to victory in the 2012 Bobbyjo Chase, which is a race that often throws up a leading contender for the Aintree marathon.

Having finished second in the 2013 Bobbyjo Chase, the veteran was unable to take his place in the Grand National for the second year on the spin, so connections will be hoping that they finally get to unleash him on the idiosyncratic challenge and he is one of the leading Irish names in the 2014 Grand National Betting.

He has always shaped as if these sort of staying distances will play to his strengths and with the likelihood of good ground likely to cause no problems then he has to be handed the utmost respect for a red-hot stable who have won the race before.
