Colbert Station

Colbert Station

Colbert Station is a ten-year-old racehorse trained by Ted Walsh, who is a lively contender for the 2014 Grand National, as he aims to hand his Irish trainer his second win in the Aintree marathon.

Age: 10

Trainer: Ted Walsh

Notable Race Wins:

Paddy Power Chase: 2012

Ted Walsh knows what it takes to train a winner of the Grand National having saddled Papillon to victory in 2000 and he is set to hand Colbert Station is second tilt at the world's greatest steeple chase on April 5 at Aintree.

A decent performer over hurdles, he has shown his true ability over the larger obstacles and he is one of the leading Irish contenders in the latest Grand National Betting, but will need to recapture the form that saw him storm to victory in the 2012 Paddy Power Chase.

He jumped with a real zest that day and was duly pushed clear in the closing stages by AP McCoy and notched back-to-back wins when returning to the hurdling sphere, but it ended in disappointment 12 months ago when he unseated his rider and he will be aiming to put up a better showing this time around.

A faller in a Leopardstown Grade B event is hardly the perfect preparation, but if he can bounce back and stay on his feet for the Grand National then could be an intriguing contender for JP McManus, who knows what it takes to win the marathon.
