Aintree Racecourse

It takes a special racecourse to host the biggest steeplechase in the World and Aintree is that special course, it is an iconic venue not just in the UK but around the world and is the ideal home to the Grand National. The course in Merseyside has been continually improving throughout its history and is now widely considered as one of the best in the world.

There are two Course at Aintree with the first one and most famous one being the large National course, while the Mildmay course is within in that one and hosts the hurdles and fence races throughout the season. The main focus though is of course the Grand National itself which tends to take place on the first Saturday in April, thousands of people descend on Liverpool and it has become one of the social events of the year in the City.

The Grand National is run over 4 and half miles around the National course over the iconic Aintree Fences, it is a unique race because of the distance and obstacles involved and thats what make Aintree a special place.

As well as the racing there is other sporting events held at the track with the Aintree Golf Centre hugely popular in the centre of the racecourse, as well as a driving range there is also a 9 hole golf course which often proves popular through the Summer. It gives Aintree some nice extra income, the 9 hole course is in fact the longest of its kind in the UK so does offer golfers a good test in unique surroundings.

As well as the golf there is also a world class Equestrian Facility at Aintree, it hosts dressage and showjumping events at the very highest level and is also a top training facility. This is another venture that compliments the main course of the racing throughout the Summer, with the biggest day of the year at Aintree the 2012 Grand National.
